1. Who should have colon hydrotherapy?
Nearly everyone can benefit from internal cleansing as it is impossible to avoid exposure to toxins from a variety of sources. However, those who consume the standard American diet-- laden with processed foods and low in fiber, fruits and vegetables—typically have a great toxic accumulation and suffer from constipation.
2. What happens during a session?
After changing into a gown, a tube is inserted approximately 3 inches into the rectum. This is attached to a drainage hose and infusion tube that is disposable and used only one time. This is known as a closed system (no oxygen). Lying on your back, we begin a gentle low flow infusion of warm, purified water until you reach your tolerance. Then it is released into the system. This fill/release cycle is repeated over 40-45 minutes. Abdominal massage can aid in mobilizing gas and impaction. A clear tube allows for visualization of results.
3. Is preparation recommended?
Hydrate with pure water and avoid eating 2 hours before your session. Diet should consist of live, whole foods such as fruits, vegetables and fiber. Colon cleansing herbs and fiber supplements can be helpful. Some clients choose to go on a brief juice fast.
4. How many sessions will I need?
This is determined by individual health disposition, personal goals, diet history, and other lifestyle factors. Usually 6-12 sessions are needed by most, with a minimum of 3 sessions. Sessions are initially spaced a few days apart, then scheduled weekly. Following dietary suggestions and integrating other herbal supplements can enhance and expedite results.
5. Are there any side effects?
Some cramping may be felt, especially with marked constipation, dehydration and excess gas. Brief mild nausea may occur. Many experience little to no discomfort and feel energized and “lighter” with a greater sense of well being. Some feel a bit “worn out” afterward with energy renewal the next day.
6. Should I keep an appointment during my menstrual cycle?
Yes, in fact, your body is under-going a natural cleansing process and the colon irrigation can enhance this experience.
7. Are there contraindications for colon hydrotherapy?
Those conditions include congestive heart failure, uncontrolled hypertension, renal insufficiency or dialysis patients, rectal bleeding, colon cancer, recent abdominal surgery, colon cancer, prolonged steroid use, severe hemorrhoids.
8. What are the benefits?
Many benefits are felt beyond the typical relief of constipation, toxic waste build up, trapped gas and bloating. Many notice relief from and improvement in allergies, headaches, skin conditions, bad breath and body odor, IBS, sinus ailments, fatigue, indigestion, candida, less cravings and weight loss. Better assimilation of nutrients is common. Many have felt they no longer needed medications after undergoing successful cleansing.
